Foo Fighters are an American rock band created in 1994 by Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana. Starting as a solo project for Grohl, it evolved into a full band. Key members include Grohl (vocals/guitar), Nate Mendel (bass), Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett (guitars), Rami Jaffee (keyboards) and Ilan Rubin (drums). Former members include guitarists Franz Stahl, and drummers William Goldsmith, Taylor Hawkins, and Josh Freese. They are known for their contributions to rock music.
