Shea Ralph is a former basketball player and current head coach of the Vanderbilt Commodores women's basketball team. Before Vanderbilt, she served as an assistant coach at UConn. A highly decorated athlete, Ralph earned national player of the year honors in both high school and college. As a player for the University of Connecticut, she won a national championship in 2000, and received individual accolades such as the Sports Illustrated for Women Player of the Year. Her career was marked by overcoming adversity, including five ACL injuries, which ultimately cut short her professional playing aspirations after being drafted by the WNBA. She began her coaching career at the University of Pittsburgh in 2003.

In 1999, Shea Ralph was named captain of the team that went on to win the national championship.
In 2000, Shea Ralph captained the University of Connecticut team to the national championship and was named the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four.
In 2000, Shea Ralph was named to the Big East First team during her senior year.
In 2000, during the championship game against Tennessee, Shea Ralph scored 15 points, had six steals and seven assists, earning her the nickname Tournament Shea. She was named the Big East Player of the Year and won national awards, including Sports Illustrated Women Player of the Year, the Honda Sports Award in basketball, and a spot on the Kodak All-America team. She played on the USA Basketball 2000 Jones Cup Team that won the gold in Taipei.
In 2001, Shea Ralph graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.A. in Exercise Physiology.
In 2002, after finishing her college playing career, Shea Ralph joined the Hartford, Connecticut school system to implement a "strength and conditioning program at the high school and middle school levels" and to work on a "disease education and prevention program, focusing on diabetes."
In 2003, Shea Ralph joined the University of Pittsburgh coaching staff for the 2003–2004 season.
In the 2003-2004 season, Ralph joined a team that had a streak of eleven losses in eleven games heading into their final season game, which they also lost. Ralph, despite five ACL surgeries, filled in and helped lead by example. The experience convinced her that she wanted to become a head coach, but she recognized she had a lot to learn.
In 2006, Shea Ralph was a member of the inaugural class of inductees to the University of Connecticut women's basketball "Huskies of Honor" recognition program.
After the 2007–2008 season, Tonya Cardoza left UConn to take the head coaching position at Temple University.
In 2008, Shea Ralph became an assistant coach at UConn after spending five years at Pittsburgh. Ralph spent 13 seasons in Storrs, assisting for 12 conference championship and 6 national championship teams.
In 2008, Shea Ralph was an inductee into the Fayetteville Sports Club Hall of Fame on the basis of her high school, college and coaching accomplishments.
Prior to Shea Ralph's appointment, Vanderbilt had not been to an NCAA tournament since 2014.
Shea Ralph's fourth season ended with a disappointing overtime loss in the first round of the NCAA tournament, but it featured back to back 20 win seasons for the first time in a decade. Vanderbilt stunned Tennessee 71–70, clinching its first home win over the Volunteers since Jan. 12, 2014.
On April 13, 2021, Shea Ralph was named the Vanderbilt Commodores' sixth women's basketball head coach.
In 2022, Vanderbilt received an invitation to the 2022 Women's National Invitation Tournament, winning the first two games and making it to the third round.
On December 19, 2023, the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame announced that Shea Ralph was one of the 10 inductees for the class of 2024.
Shea Ralph was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2024, joining athletes such as Michael Jordan, Mike Krzyzewski, Arnold Palmer and Kay Yow.
